A Feel-Good Weekend of Love

The company I work for, imc², recently participated in its third, semi-annual Weekend of Love. No, it’s not some creepy, hippified idea of free love. It’s a weekend where imc² employees donate their professional services to create marketing strategies, websites, mobile apps and more for non-profit organizations. The cost for these services would be hundreds of thousands of dollars, but every six months our people offer up their knowledge and expertise for free. My favorite part of the event, each organization receiving these services is championed by an imc² employee. Unlike other places I’ve worked, where employees are strong-armed into donating to a cause selected by the company, employees are encouraged to submit organizations that are meaningful to them. If the employee can drum up enough support and talent to fulfill the marketing need, it’s done!
While in some ways it may feel like another day at the office for the volunteers, the weekend’s impact really hits home when they hear feedback from people within the organizations saying, “There is no way we could have achieved this much in the next two years without your help!” For Marc Blumberg, imc² President, that’s when he realized just how amazing the event was, “If I can have that big of an impact on an organization just by spending two days offering my professional talents, then I will participate again and again.”
These types of efforts make me proud to work for an organization like imc², but I’m not the only one applauding it. You can read what the Dallas Morning News had to say about the event here.
